May 16, 2024 – A delegation from Tsinghua University’s School of Journalism and Communication, led by Dean Qing’an Zhou, visited Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Limited to further strengthen the ties between the two institutions. This visit marks a significant step in the continued collaboration and realization of the shared vision to advance journalism and communication.
During the meeting, Li Huiling, President of SPH, provided a detailed overview of Lian He Zao Bao’s illustrious 100-year history and its remarkable achievements. She expressed her confidence in the partnership, noting the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University’s expertise in new media technology and global perspective.

Strengthening Academic-Practice Integration
Dean Zhou highlighted the productive outcomes achieved since the signing of the cooperation agreement in December 2022. He emphasized the importance of initiatives such as student internships and personnel exchange programs, which have facilitated a deeper integration of academic research and practical experience. “These collaborations not only advance the professional development of our students but also enable both institutions to explore the frontiers of media together,” Zhou said. He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to supporting and expanding this partnership to promote innovation and growth in journalism and communication.

Successful Exchange Programs and Internships
The collaboration has already yielded meaningful results. In the autumn semester of 2023 and the spring semester of 2024, SPH selected two journalists to participate in exchange visits at Tsinghua University. Simultaneously, the university sent two outstanding master’s students specializing in international journalism and film and television communication to Singapore for internships with SPH.
